Earlier this week OnMilwaukee.com reported that local funk masters Kings Go Forth are currently discussing a record deal with Luaka Bop, a respected indie label founded by David Byrne known mostly for world music. Decider fired off an email to band leader Andy Noble to get more information, and he told us that KGF has been offered a three-record deal. “Legal shit is taking forever but I'm trying to have it knocked out to both of our satisfaction—band and label—within another week or so,” Noble said. Kings Go Forth’s next big Milwaukee gig is July 24 at Turner Hall, which was supposed to be a CD release party for the band’s debut full-length. How the possible Luaka Bop signing impacts the record’s release remains to be seen, but either way the July 24 show ought to be one the Milwaukee music scene’s biggest of the summer.
