Newswire Death Cab For Cutie announces summer tour, followed by “a break of some kind”

Ben Gibbard, Chris Walla, and their Death Cab For Cutie compatriots are currently on tour, through May, with Magik*Magik Orchestra, a group that was also featured on 2011’s Codes And Keys. Following those shows, Death Cab has announced it will embark on an 18-date summer tour, beginning in Ontario and wrapping up in Delaware at the Firefly Music Festival. After that, well, it may be a while before the band does anything at all. According to Billboard and SPIN, Walla is unsure about Death Cab’s immediate future, saying, “I think a break of some kind is probably in order. It’s all malleable. We could jump right back in the studio and make another record or it could be another two or three years. We really don’t know. It remains to be seen.”

So heads up, folks. This might be your last chance to catch the band live, at least for a while. Maybe. Here’s a full list of Death Cab summer dates, including a previously announced gig at Milwaukee’s Summerfest July 5:
