It’s been about five years since Pennsylvania indie-psych outfit Dr. Dog made a minor splash with “Old News,” the opening track of 2007’s We All Belong. Since then, the band has released a series of agreeable records (2008’s Fate was pretty great, though), and a handful of agreeable songs (remember “Hang On”?). All of this agreeable activity seems to fall in line with the group’s somewhat anonymous and unfocused image. Are we the only ones who still get these guys mixed up with Blitzen Trapper, à la Bill Paxton/Pullman?
That lack of definition may finally change this fall when Dr. Dog extends its current summer tour in support of its latest album, Be The Void. Of course, that record shouldn’t be confused with Blitzen Trapper’s 2010 album Destroyer Of The Void. Wait—which one was in Lost Highway, again?
