Found Footage Festival Video Of The Day: "Video Dating"

The dumb video connoisseurs are curating A.V. Milwaukee this week

Before the Found Footage Festival visits Oriental Theater on Thursday with a new collection of videos that are “remarkably dumb in just the right way,” A.V. Club Milwaukee asked FFF founders Nick Prueher and Joe Pickett to curate our website this week. Look for a slice of remarkable dumbness here every day until Thursday.  Today’s video is “Video Dating.”

Nick Prueher: Earlier this year, we were trading videos with David Cross and he gave us this two-hour tape he'd found in Los Angeles from a company called Video Mates. It turned out to be this reel of eligible bachelors making their best pitches to land dates and, we're guessing, not being very successful at that. It's this remarkable time capsule of 1987, which apparently wasn't a very good year for men. The bad sweaters alone are enough to guarantee these guys are probably still single. We took this full-length video that David Cross gave us and cut together just our favorite moments for this montage, which has gotten a lot of mileage online.
