Just Announced Franz Ferdinand at The Rave/Eagles Ballroom

Those swinging Scots are coming to Milwaukee April 29

Remember Franz Ferdinand? You know, those sexy n’ sylish Scots who turned out danceable alt-rock in the mid-’00s? You may still enjoy their classic hit “Take Me Out” when it gets played at sporting events. At any rate, Franz Ferdinand sort of dropped off the face of the planet after the band’s merely OK 2005 sophomore album You Could Have It So Much Better failed to build on the buzz of its highly enjoyable self-titled ’04 debut. Last month the group finally released a third record, Tonight, which in spite of reheated disco tropes and skronky electronic touches feels like it's been forged with the same stale, trademarked chorus in hand.

Hopefully Tonight will translate better in a live setting, because Franz Ferdinand is coming April 29 to The Rave/Eagles Ballroom. Tickets are $26.50 (or $31.50 for VIP seats) and go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday Feb. 7 through Ticketmaster. Here's the video for the band's new single "Ulysses."
