Grizzly Bear at the Pabst Theater
The indie band is coming to the downtown theater June 8
More Just Announced
Grizzly Bear came on strong in 2006 with Yellow House, an album that itself doesn’t come on particularly strong. That’s not a slight; instead, it’s an acknowledgement of perhaps Grizzly Bear’s most appealing trait: the patience and/or wisdom to let songs unwind slowly, surely, and mesmerizingly. The group came to make a big show of its status, playing with Los Angeles Philharmonic, touring with Radiohead, and breaking off into the successful side-project form of Department Of Eagles. But it’s back on now for real, with a new album, Veckatimest, due out May 26, and a new tour that comes June 8 to the Pabst Theater, according to the band’s MySpace page.
The theater hasn’t announced the show yet, but it did link to a story on Pitchfork announcing the tour on its Twitter page. So, ticket information will likely be available very soon. (UPDATE: Tickets go on sale at noon Friday for $15 at the Pabst and Riverside Theater box offices.) In the meantime enjoy this clip of the band performing “Two Weeks” on The Late Show With David Letterman.
