Hear the new Gayngs song, then get a room
Back when word got out about the massive indie-rock supergroup Gayngs, headed up by Justin Vernon of Bon Iver and spacey Minneapolis R&B combo Solid Gold, we wondered if the band’s forthcoming Relayted would simultaneously top critics’ best and worst albums of the year lists. Well, now that Gayngs’ label Jagjaguwar has released the song “The Gaudy Side Of Town,” we’re fully expecting Relayted to be one of 2010’s most, shall we say, uplifting records. (Cue copious winking and nudging.) The song is a slow-motion crotch thrust of echoing falsetto vocals, horizontal-bop beats, and free-floating, back-alley sleaze. The album is due in May, and if the rest of the album sounds like this, it should be perfectly timed for sweaty, sweltering summer “listening” sessions. Check it out here.
