With the madness of Black Friday and Cyber Monday safely in the past, it’s time to get local. The second annual Hover Craft will be held Saturday, Dec. 3, from 2-6 p.m. at the urban fish and vegetable garden Sweet Water Organics. According to co-organizer (and contributor to The A.V. Club) Courtney Heimerl, the showcase of local artists, crafters, businesses, and musicians will be “basically a big love letter to Milwaukee.”
Hover Craft is a one-day marketplace of arts and goods being crafted in the city, putting amateurs next to professionals, as well as wood etchers and comic book artists beside jewelry designers and knitters of mittens. The event encourages awareness of local talents, and promotes interesting holiday gift alternatives to the standard Best Buy gift card. The fair will be followed by an after-party at Frank’s Power Plant, featuring the music of Technicolor Teeth, The Facts Machine, The Happy Thoughts, and special guests Christmas Chids and Jake Kornley.
