Newswire Joanna Newsom plots world tour

The singer-songwriter wraps up current road schedule in Milwaukee

Ever since the release of the 2006 masterpiece/headache-inducer Ys, freak-folk goddess and harp enthusiast Joanna Newsom has worked hard to confound indie rock nerds as much as possible. Whether that has meant dating Andy Samberg, appearing in a MGMT video, or working as a socially conscious model, Newsom has shown uncommon dedication to transcending her nature girl image. Believe it or not, she’s also been working on a new album that’s set to drop this year, though she’s been silent on the details. Perhaps the new music will play a part in her upcoming tour, which according to Pitchfork will visit Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and Canada before finally returning home to the U.S. in spring. Right now the tour is due to wrap up April 2 at the Pabst Theater in Milwaukee. Tickets are $25 in advance ($28 at the show) and go on sale at noon Jan. 15 at the Pabst and Riverside box offices. See the other tour dates here.
