Jon Mueller leaves Collections Of Colonies Of Bees ... by the end of the year
WMSE announced yesterday via its Twitter page that drummer Jon Mueller is leaving one of Milwaukee’s best and most prominent bands, Collections Of Colonies Of Bees. When The A.V. Club reached Mueller via e-mail this morning, he said that Friday’s show at the Cactus Club will be his last Milwaukee performance with the band. In September he’ll be with CoCoBees at the Hopscotch Music Festival in Raleigh, N.C., and then for a tour of Japan by the end of the year. After that, Mueller will be on his own.
“After 12 years, I've decided to leave the band so that I could focus on non-band-oriented things, both musical and otherwise,” Mueller wrote in his e-mail. “I have a solo record coming out in September on Type Recordings and will do a short tour then as well. Next year will have a few different projects with people I respect highly, as well as more solo percussion work.”
Collections Of Colonies Of Bees will release its next album GIVING on Hometapes in October.
