A onetime member of Ultramagnetic MCs, Kool Keith has yet to top his career-defining 1996 album, Dr. Octagonecologyst, which stands as one of the zaniest and all-around best hip-hop records ever made. He also helped put producer Dan The Automator and turntablist DJ QBert on the map for their contributions to the album. In the years since, Keith has rotated through multiple MC personalities: time-traveling gynecologist/surgeon Dr. Octagon; Dr. Doom, whose follow-up to 1999’s First Come, First Served finally arrived in 2008 with Dr. Dooom 2; and “real New Yorker” Tashan Dorrsett, who dropped The Legend Of Tashan Dorrsett in 2009. The rapper returned to his body with 2012’s Love And Danger, featuring guest appearances from Keith Murray, Mr. Sche, Megabone, The I.M.O., and more.
Keith will return to Milwaukee for a show at Mad Planet Thursday, Dec. 13. Dana Coppafeel and The NightKrawlers are scheduled to open. Tickets are $18 at the door, or $15 in advance here.
