Lil Wayne tickets on sale now
Weezy comes to Marcus Amphitheater Sept. 2
More Just Announced
It’s hard to remember a time when Lil Wayne’s cartoonishly animated, growly raps weren’t flowing out of radios nationwide, every second of the day. The magnitude of the chart-topping Tha Carter III has been felt since it was issued last summer, rocketing Weezy into the top tier of popular music acts. The onetime mixtape hustler and pride of New Orleans claimed the best-selling album of 2008 as well as four Grammys, including Best Rap Album and Best Rap Song. It seems like Wayne can do anything at this point—except put out his much-delayed rock record Rebirth, which will either be incredibly awesome or incredibly, awesomely bad, if it ever sees the light of day.
In the meantime, fans will want to buy tickets this morning for Wayne’s summer-closing show Sept 2 at Marcus Amphitheater, which was announced Friday. Joining him is a crew of disreputable hit-makers, including Jeremih—holla if you know the non-ironic, Lonely Island-esque “Birthday Sex”—Drake, and music’s reigning moron-genius Soulja Boy. Tickets are $24.75, $44.75, and $74.75, or you can get a $99 lawn 4-pack through Ticketmaster.
