Even as scads of music blogs start up every day, Illinois-based Daytrotter.com stands out as a true original. Founded more than five years ago by Sean Moeller, a former music and sports newspaper reporter, Daytrotter regularly posts exclusive live-in-the-studio sessions recorded by indie rock artists like Death Cab For Cutie, Spoon, Of Montreal, and Shearwater, who swing by the site’s studio in nearby Rock Island, Ill. when they have an afternoon to kill between Midwest tour stops.

Following in the footsteps of Maritime, Collections Of Colonies Of Bees, and Juniper Tar, Milwaukee’s Field Report is the latest local band to step up to the Daytrotter plate. The Christopher Porterfield-fronted group performs “Route 18,” “The Year Of The Get You Alone,” “Incommunicado,” and “Fergus Falls.”

Stream or download the session here. (Paid registration is required, and worth it.)
