Local bands sail the mighty Milwaukee River this summer for concert series

In the unlikely event that you find yourself with a few spare moments this summer—remember, in addition to the barrage of festivals and concerts, you still need to feed and bathe yourself—we have yet another can’t-miss event: The Milwaukee Boat Line Summer Concert Series. Combining great local music with a high probability of seasickness, the Concert Cruises set some of Milwaukee's best musicians—along with a literal boat-full of revelers—loose on the waters of the Milwaukee River and Lake Michigan. This year's impressive lineup includes everyone from The Etiquette and Celebrated Workingman to Fresh Cut Collective and The Wildbirds, turning the Concert Cruise's vessel of choice, the mighty Iroquois, into something of a Milwaukee-music Love Boat. (Dates for the inevitable Jamie Farr and Charo guest-appearances were not available at press time.)

The first cruise shoves off this Friday, with Kid Millions and King Hell Bastard offering up their distinct brand of drunken sea shanties. Tickets for the three-hour tour—um, make that two-hour tours—are $19. Of all the great groups to take to the high seas, perhaps the most intriguing is the 11-piece Group of Altos on June 12. Assuming space on the Iroquois is limited, it may be time to listen to the sage advice of Roy Scheider:
