Ringing Endorsement Mark Metcalf

The Animal House star and Twisted Sister cohort backs an Oak Creek institution

This week, Mequon actor Mark Metcalf (whose credits include National Lampoon’s Animal House, Seinfeld, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, and some kick-ass Twisted Sister videos) gives his ringing endorsement of Georgie Porgie’s, an Oak Creek restaurant that apparently resembles a tree house.

The only things I do that aren't work related are things with my son. His favorite place to eat--and he tries to get me to go there even if we're fifty miles away fishing or walking on the Ice Age Trail--is Georgie Porgie's in Oak Creek, at the corner of Ryan Road and Howell. We go there enough that our Prius just sort of goes there automatically, sometimes against my will. They do have great burgers, and I would match their custard up against such local legends as Leon's and Kopp's. You can eat outside, or at least you can when the weather is sensible, instead of being just pretty, as it often is in Wisconsin. Or you can eat inside. They think of the place as a giant tree house, and the restaurant does feel nice and comfortable. And it is often filled with friends, just like a real tree house. But Georgie Porgie’s is like a tree house with great food. The fried chicken is really some of the best I've had outside of Texas. It takes a little while to prepare, so have one of their excellent milkshakes while you wait. I kind of wish my life was more exciting, but Georgie Porgie's is a pretty good treat.
