Mars Cheese Castle to become an actual castle

No related

Even if you haven’t been to Mars Cheese Castle in Kenosha, the odds are that you’ve seen the iconic sign on the drive to Chicago. If you have been there, you’ll know that a) it’s not really a castle; b) it stocks some of the best meat, cheese, and baked goods in the state; and c) as a roadside watering hole, it caters to Wisconsin’s other pastime.

On March 1, the Mars Cheese Castle will finally realize its pipe dream and become a full-fledged castle, complete with a drawbridge and tower. The castle will be just west of the old location, due to the Interstate 94 expansion. Expect more kitschy bric-a-brac, more cheese, and more beer. Watch the countdown with the rest of us, stay updated with the restaurant’s Facebook page, and stop in the old “castle” before it’s gone. Just don’t look for the sign on the side of the road—it’s moving to the castle, along with the rest of the gear.
