Just Announced Milwaukee Boat Line Summer Concert Series promises great music, chance of seasickness

One of the many charms of living in Milwaukee is witnessing just how many events, festivals, and random outdoor concerts the city can possibly cram into three short months. This summer, The Milwaukee Boat Line Summer Concert Series will once again do its part by taking some of the city’s best bands, putting them on a boat, and sending them sailing down the Milwaukee River and into Lake Michigan. Think of it like The Sex Pistols’ Jubilee boat trip, but without all the safety pin-chic and Nancy Spungen make-out sessions.

Like previous years, the 2011 lineup is stocked with some terrific local names, including past performers Celebrated Workingman and Group Of The Altos. Each cruise lasts approximately two hours, and is held aboard the double-decker Iroquois. As you might expect, space is limited, so make sure to order tickets well in advance. Stocking up on some Dramamine wouldn’t hurt, either.

The lineup:

May 28: Celebrated Workingman
June 11: Hounds Tooth with Tamarind Tribal Belly Dancers
June 18: Group Of The Altos
July 9: Maritime
July 15: Burgundy Ties
July 16: Revision Text
July 23: The Invaders
July 30: The Etiquette
August 6: The Response
August 20: Todd Richards
August 27: Old Mil
September 3: The Snowbirds
September 10: Hoochie Koo
