Milwaukee Twestival set for Thursday at The Wicked Hop
Charitable event will raise money for clean water in developing countries
Twitter users in more than 175 cities worldwide, including Milwaukee, are leaving the comfort of their carefully constructed web identities on Thursday for “Twestival” events raising money for clean water systems in developing nations. All proceeds will go to the non-profit group charity:water, which has funded the building of nearly 1,250 wells since August 2006 that will eventually supply water to 650,000 people.
The Milwaukee Twestival takes place at The Wicked Hop and Jackalope Lounj from 8 to 11 p.m., and will feature Micah Olsan and DJs Tarik Moody of Radio Milwaukee and John Kuester of Lotus Land Records starting at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door and $5 online. The goal is to raise $4,000 locally, so feel free to chip in above and beyond the door fee.
