Milwaukee's Sticks N Stones release debut 7-inch just in time for spring

Weekend mini-blizzard notwithstanding, we feel fairly confident in declaring that spring has officially come to Milwaukee. Which means we need some new rockin’ tunes to play while we’re cleaning the grill and picking the dog poop off the freshly uncovered lawn. Enter Milwaukee garage-pop band Sticks N Stones, which celebrates the release of its debut 7-inch this Saturday with a show at Club Garibaldi. Featuring former members of local favorites like Tuff Bananas, Catholic Boys, and Tears, this sugar-high trio has delivered a double-sided blast of primo Midwestern power-pop snot that includes the hard-charging “Red Light” and the only slightly more pensive (but still dance-around-the-room worthy) “Time Change.” If you wish Cheap Trick were younger and addicted to sniffing crushed-up Ritalin tablets off of Trapper Keepers, you’ll definitely want to check out this record, which comes courtesy of the reliable Milwaukee garage-rock label Dusty Medical. Here’s a clip of Sticks N Stones (courtesy of High Frequency Media) performing “Red Light” in December.
