Just Announced Nada Surf at Turner Hall

Nada Surf isn’t the only one-hit wonder to go on to enjoy a fruitful career, but its success is remarkable nonetheless. After hitting big on MTV in 1996 with its first single, “Popular,” the New York trio fought with Elektra over creative control of its second album. Miraculously, the band secured the rights to release The Proximity Effect on its own label in 2000, which eventually led to a deal with Death Cab For Cutie’s old label, Barsuk. The relationship has proven to be mutually beneficial, with the band remaining with the label since. The band’s The Stars Are Indifferent To Astronomy dropped in January 2012.

Nada Surf is scheduled to stop by Milwaukee Dec. 7 for a show at Turner Hall. Special guest An Horse will open the show (though local band IfIHadAHiFi would perhaps be more appropriate). General admission tickets are $18, and go on sale July 27 at noon.
