New music Tuesday: The Swell Season, Tegan And Sara, and (gulp) the return of Creed

A round-up of this week's biggest releases

Tegan And Sara

It’s a big day at record stores today (or iTunes or whatever clandestine online destination you head to illegally download music, you thief), with lots of high-profile releases flooding the shelves. Fans of The Swell Season will want to brush up on the new Strict Joy before Sunday’s sold-out show at The Riverside Theater. Tegan And Sara fans will have lots of time to spend with Sainthood, which comes a good four months before their show March 25 at Pabst Theater. Speaking of a listening experience seeming to last a lifetime, did we mention that the new Creed record came out yesterday? It’s called Full Circle and, well, we’ve already said that we wouldn’t comment on it.

Other notable releases today include R.E.M.’s double-album Live At The Olympia, Wolfmother’s Cosmic Fog, Devendra Banhart’s What Will We Be, Tech N9ne’s k.o.d., Pink Martini’s Splendor In The Grass, and Echo And The Bunnymen’s The Fountain. For reviews of many of these records, go here.
