New website Tap Milwaukee will cover local arts and entertainment, not Spinal Tap
As we all know, Milwaukee has a rich and vibrant arts and entertainment scene, and plenty of websites that dutifully cover it (including yours truly). But starting Monday, April 25, there’ll be a new kid on the block: The Journal Sentinel’s Tap Milwaukee promises to cover “all the best of local music, movies, dining, art, theater, TV, books, and events.” We can only assume that This Is Spinal Tap fan fiction will also be included.
The only thing currently on Tap Milwaukee’s website is a hyper-kinetic slide show featuring such local local luminaries as Charlie Sheen, Gwen Stefani, and the cast of The Hangover. (Oh, and Danny Gokey.) As a bonus, it’s scored by one of those weird, generic knock-off songs that sounds suspiciously like Jet’s “Are You Gonna Be My Girl.” (On a related note, what’s up with the song in that YMCA commercial that sounds exactly like Phoenix’s “Listzomania?”)
Of course, we look forward to the arrival of Tap Milwaukee—there’s more than enough room in town for another A&E website. As Sir Denis Eton-Hogg says at Spinal Tap’s tour kickoff party, it’s time to “tap into America!” Er, Milwaukee!
