Norah Jones makes massive appeal feel pleasant and respectable as few can. Ever since her 2002 debut Come Away With Me, Jones has married comfortable pop sounds with varied vocal and piano ambitions born of jazz and soul. The relationship between her different interests has tipped back and forth over the years, but 2009's The Fall mostly succeeds in making it equal and pushing it forward. Like her vocals, the album's songwriting and arrangements hit upon a strong balance of polish and understatement. Jones will support The Fall with a show March 19 at Riverside Theater. Tickets are $49.50 and $60 and go on sale at noon Friday at the Pabst and Riverside box offices.
