Oedipus Tex And The Motherfuckers (and Grand Avenue’s singing bears) want to kill your cell phone

Cell phones are just one of the many evils we’re forced to deal with in the modern world. For many 21st-century denizens, cell phones are miracle-like lifelines to Facebook, Twitter, and Temple Run 2, and can even be used to communicate with actual human beings. But with all that lightning-fast convenience comes a price: People are more apt to stumble around, zombie-like, staring at their phones, than engage with the real world in any meaningful way. Progress, we suppose.
Enter new-ish Milwaukee band Oedipus Tex And Motherfuckers, who tackle this hot-button issue head-on in the self-explanatory “Kill Your Cell Phone.” Not only that, but they include the Shops of Grand Avenue’s infamous singing Christmas bears (or the Leonard Bearstein Orchestra, if you’re nasty) in the music video. Sure, maybe rampant cell-phone use isn’t the freshest of targets, but the song has just enough of a jangly vibe and a goofy sense of humor to warrant a thumbs-up. And did we mention an appearance from the Leonard Bearstein Orchestra?
