Okkervil River at Pabst Theater
More Just Announced
Okkervil River’s jump in popularity—capped by the one-two chamber-folk punch of The Stage Names and The Stand-Ins—was one of the most pleasant surprises of the late ’00s. That broadened appeal had something to do with the band’s inordinately wise balance of excitement and nuance, especially when it came to Will Sheff and band’s live heart-on-sleeve histrionics. After starting the new decade by applying that passion to Roky Erickson’s umpteenth comeback album, True Love Cast Out All Evil, Okkervil returns to its own compositions with the new album I Am Very Far.
The A.V. Club is thrilled to help welcome the group to Milwaukee for a show at Pabst Theater September 21. Tickets go on sale Friday, July 8 at noon.
