Pavement not confirmed for Pitchfork Music Festival, but it's "a possibility"

Since the annoucement that Pavement's upcoming reunion would be a world tour and not just a one-off stint in New York, the rest of America has been waiting with bated breath for an annoucement of more dates. So reports this morning from music blog Consequence Of Sound, as well an aside from drummer Bob Nastanovich in an interview with Louisville Courier-Journal, that the seminal lo-fi rockers would be headlining this year's Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago were excitedly scattered across the Internet. Unfortunately, they were premature. In an e-mail from Beggars Group, spokeswoman Catherine Herrick says the reports are not true. "It's one of many shows that remain possibilities, but nothing has been confirmed," she said.

Bummer, but at least the door remains open. For a solid back-up plan, Lollapalooza organizers are asking fans to submit up to five ideas for acts for this year's festival. Just put "Pavement" in there five times.
