Radio Milwaukee picks the city's best music today

The station's annual local music awards announced today at 4 p.m.

Fever Marlene: Did they write the city's best song?

Decider is a lot like Marlon Brando—we like to eat bad food, we dream of buying our own island one day, and we don’t believe in awards. But we’re still curious to find out who wins Radio Milwaukee’s second annual Milwaukee Music Awards, which will be announced on air from 4 to 6 p.m. today. There are 14 categories, including song of the year, album of the year, and vocalist of the year. (Go here for a full list of nominees.) Tonight the radio station will host an awards show concert at Mad Planet with live music from Fever Marlene, Codebreaker, Figureheads, and Quinn Scharber And The …, and DJ sets form Kid Millions, Why B., E. Rich, and Lukewarm.

Like any awards show, it’s easy to gripe about bands that weren’t nominated. Decider would have appreciated some love for The Trusty Knife, The Championship, Prophetic, and .357 String Band. Also, did that Rusty Ps record really come out in ’08? It seems like we’ve been listening to that since junior high school. At any rate, be sure to check in to Radio Milwaukee to find out which local bands rule and which ones totally suck. (Hey, didn't someone already do that?)
