More Ringing Endorsement
This week, Scott Starr of Fever Marlene offers a ringing endorsement of his favorite Milwaukee bar, Yield. See Fever Marlene tonight at Turner Hall.
I used to go to Vox a lot. When they were going through their reconstruction, I stopped into Yield one day. From there on I was going to Yield instead. I don’t like going to bars where it takes too long to get a Scotch. Here you can go straight to the bar and the bartenders know you. It’s a relaxed atmosphere; you can sit down and not be pushed around and hassled. It’s a good group of people and good music. There’s stuff I hear there all the time that I haven’t heard. The owner will put these mixes together of new songs that he hears—I was introduced to The Subways at Yield, and Cold War Kids. I also like the fact that they support local music. They have bands in there every Tuesday. No one else does that. You can go see a really good band or a really bad band, but it’s always fun.
