The Bradley Center: 1988-2017?

The city's top arena has only eight years left, says the outgoing chairman

Are the Bradley Center’s days as the city’s top arena for concerts and  pro basketball numbered? The answer is yes, according to departing Bradley Center board chair Ulice Payne Jr., who said that the arena has eight years left, the Journal Sentinel reports. While the arena just turned 21 this month, that’s apparently like being Andy Rooney’s dad in arena years. Maintenance crews even have to replace 1,000 ceramics tiles inside the arena—and most arenas don’t even have ceramic tile. Nice look, grandpa!

The JS story lists other problems with the Bradley Center, including a crumbling roof, old ventilation equipment, and old seats that need to be fixed up or replaced. And this is after the state agreed to $5 million in bonding this year to help cover maintenance expenses.
