Newswire The Hives follow up Coachella performances with new album, tour

It’s been more than a decade (!) since the Swedish rockers of The Hives made an international splash with “Hate To Say I Told You So,” a song seemingly custom-made for movie trailers and baseball walk-up music. Though the band never managed to capture the success of 2000’s Veni Vidi Vicious and 2001’s Your New Favourite Band again, it never really went away, either. Tyrannosaurus Hives followed in 2004, along with the not-too-shabby The Black And White Album in 2007. Now, following their well-received performances at Coachella, The Hives have announced a brief North American tour in support of a new album, Lex Hives. The record is due out June 5 on the band’s own Disques Hives label (no relation to The A.V. Club’s Disqus commenting system), and a more extensive tour is being planned for the fall. Summer tour dates are below, including a June 29 performance at Milwaukee’s Summerfest.
