Newswire The Promise Ring announces reunion shows, rarities album

Back in May, former Promise Ring (and current Maritime) drummer Dan Didier hinted ever so subtly that TPR “may or may not” reunite sometime in 2012. Now, 10 years after officially disbanding—and six years after a one-off show in Chicago—the band has finally announced two reunion shows for February 2012. A Milwaukee gig is slated for Feb. 24 at Turner Hall, with a Chicago show at the Metro to follow Feb. 25. Tickets for both shows go on sale Friday, Nov. 25. A rarities album is also planned for summer 2012 from Dangerbird Records.

According to Didier, the shows will serve as a “test” of sorts, and don’t necessarily point to a permanent reunion. Still, this is exciting news for fans of the seminal Milwaukee band, and should make for an interesting 2012.
