Cheapskating Throw some free rocks this Saturday for National Bowling Day

As you most certainly know, Saturday, Aug. 11 is National Bowling Day, a day that celebrates the inherent joy of slipping on a pair of rental shoes, throwing a 12-pound ball down a greased-up lane, and getting good and shitty. And though the U.S. Bowling Congress packed its bags, balls, and wristguards for Texas back in 2008, bowling still enjoys a huge following in Wisconsin. Whether it’s league bowling, midnight “cosmic” bowling, or just plain “Let’s kill a few hours at the Landmark” bowling, the pleasures of this all-American sport are self-evident. Oh, and a lot of lanes still have those metal ashtrays in the scoring consoles, which is a nice touch.

To celebrate the holiday, dozens of bowling alleys in the Milwaukee area are offering coupons for a free game. To find your closest participating location, head over to GoBowling.com and enter your zip code. To get your free coupon, you’ll need to fill out a registration form.

(Of course, National Bowling Day does fall on a Saturday, so Jewish rollers may want to have a word with that fuck down at the league office.)
