Newswire Tom Petty announces new album, huge summer tour

Tom Petty might be turning 60 later this year, but the old codger doesn’t need any of you kids to show him how to work his computer. Fans that buy tickets online to his North American summer tour will get download codes for two songs (“First Flash Of Freedom” and “Good Enough”) off of the forthcoming Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers album Mojo. (You can hear “Good Enough” here.) Then when the record comes out in spring, they’ll be able to download the whole album, and, later, a selection of live tracks from the tour.

In case you need even more reason to check out good, old-fashioned, finely weathered rock ‘n’ roll in the summertime, Petty has also invited along a bevy of big-name support acts for various points on the summer jaunt, including My Morning Jacket, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Joe Cocker, Drive-By Truckers, and ZZ Top, who will open his Summerfest appearance June 25. Tickets for that show go on sale at 10 a.m. March 6 for $112, $92, $72, and $42; the rest of the tour goes up for bid March 8. Here are the tour dates:
