Two State Fair acts involved in tragic incidents
MercyMe plans to honor scheduled show in spite of recent car accident
It was a rough weekend for touring acts slated to play Milwaukee. We already told you about the ill-fated dance off at Friday’s Deerhunter, No Age, and Dan Deacon “round robin” show at Turner Hall. Sadly, two acts performing at the Wisconsin State Fair were involved in far more tragic incidents. Country singer Billy Currington had to cancel his Saturday show at the fair after his stage collapsed during a show a show in Canada Aug. 1, which killed one person and injured 75 others. Then the Christian band MercyMe was involved in a car accident Saturday in Indiana—the band was unharmed but two passengers in the other car, as well as an unborn baby, were killed. MercyMe plans to move forward with tonight’s performance.
