Hip-hop and skateboarding have always been tight, with a relationship dating back to at least the heavy-scratching days of Skatemaster Tate And The Concrete Crew. (Kids, ask your parents.) And if the video for AUTOMatic’s “The Back Up” is any indication, that bond is apparently alive and well in 21st century Milwaukee. Edited and directed by Dana Coppafeel (he of the recently departed KingHellBastard), “The Back Up” is the second video from AUTOMatic’s recently released Art Imitates Life, and includes footage shot at Milwaukee’s indomitable Four Seasons Skatepark. Come for the scenes of young skate rats harassing A.P.R.I.M.E., and stick around for some impromptu railroad-track fashion poses from guest rapper Logic.
(Art Imitates Life is available on vinyl from Milwaukee’s Dope Folks Records.)
