One of the most infamous moments in Academy Awards history occurred in 1974, when a 34-year-old man named Robert Opel streaked across the stage. The times being what they were, Opel used his moment in the spotlight to flash a hippy-dippy peace sign, much to the bemusement of prim-and-proper host David Niven. Nearly four decades later—this past Wednesday, to be exact—another butt-naked nature child decided to make a statement, man, by taking a stroll through the University Of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Student Union. And what was that statement? According to the UWM College Daily: “This is the planet you reside on, humans! This is the kind of shit you try to do when you live your life the way you were born—naked!”
Okaaaay then. So can we all agree that Leap Day was kind of fucked up?
The man was quickly arrested by UWM police, because that’s the kind of shit they do when you flash your junk on a college campus. Happily, with these times being what they are, the arrest was captured on video by a horde of chuckling, iPhone-wielding students. To quote David Niven: “Isn’t it fascinating to think that probably the only laugh that man will ever get in his life is by stripping off and showing his shortcomings?”
