Leaving the members of Sat. Nite Duets alone with their thoughts, a video camera, and some editing software may not be the safest idea (Pro tip: Never operate a chainsaw in a bathtub), but it does lead to some pretty stellar music videos. Take the just-released clip for “Genghis Khan,” a song off the group’s terrific Summer Of Punishment. It features everything you’d expect from the shaggy, bro-tacular band: terrifying rubber masks, bathtub electrocutions, one-armed pull-ups, and the guitar-soloing ghost of Aaron Rodgers leaping forth from a copy of NFL Blitz. It also features some nifty stop-motion animation to go along with Sat. Nite Duets’ usual lyrical ruminations on books-on-tape and 10-foot bong hits.
As for Summer Of Punishment, the album is now available as a pay-what-you-want download. We highly recommend grabbing a copy, as well as throwing a few bucks the band’s way. Don’t let that mattress covered in $1 bills fool you.
