It’s delightfully easy to love the Sugar Stems. The group’s bright, upbeat, hair-tousled power pop is played to perfection on both 2010’s Sweet Sounds Of… and the brand-new Can’t Wait. Reviewing the newest disc, A.V. Club contributor Cal Roach wrote, “true to form, every melody is hummable or whistle-able almost instantly. There’s also a significant bitter lyrical taste to several songs on the new album for those who were craving a little drama to temper the fluff.”
That bitter lyrical taste is easy to detect in “Make Up Your Mind,” a song that kicks off with the line “Where did I go wrong?” Not that you’d ever know it from the song’s newly released video, which is stuffed with shots of the band goofing off, the band mugging to the camera during practice, and the band goofing off some more.
