What is Halloween if not an opportunity to do exactly what you normally do on a weekend—carouse in bars and drink too much—but in much more exotic clothing? Fortunately, drinks will probably be cheaper than usual this weekend, too, especially if you know where to look. Here are some of the better deals you’ll find around Milwaukee this Halloween.
Cheap-ass drinks: Some of the best drink specials this Halloween come from bars that are charging flat fees for bottomless beer mugs that last all night. At Rustico (223 N. Water St., 414-220-9933), $20 will get you tap beer plus punch and pizza. Over at Rip Tide (649 E. Erie St., 414-271-8433) you can get a bottomless glass of Schlitz for $15. And you keep the glass, though if you’re the kind of person that orders Schlitz in bars we’re guessing you already have plenty of Schlitz glasses at home.
What’s better than drinking in a bar? How about drinking by sea … or dirty city river? Edelweiss is hosting Halloween party cruises Friday and Saturday night with all-you-can-drink Miller Lite from 10:30 p.m. to 12 a.m. for $20.
Cheap-ass drinks … with strings: Many local taverns are practically giving drinks away on Saturday, but you have to show up at a specific time. Bar Louie (1114 N. Water St., 414-847-1492) will start serving up Absolut mixer specials at 8 p.m., when drinks will only be $1 and then go up a dollar every hour after that. At Club Anything (807 S. 5th St.) if you show up in costume from 9 and 11 p.m. you get free beer … and, oh yeah, you might also win $1,000. The party starts early at Lucille’s Rockin’ Pianos (1110 N. Old World Third St., 414-225-0304), but if you show up after midnight you can get free Lakefront Pumpkin Lager taps.
Drink specials at Old German Beer Hall (1009 N. Old World Third St., 414-226-2728) don’t hinge on timing but your clothes—you can get half-price beer if you dress like a German (which isn’t far off from dressing like a Milwaukeean). Enter the costume contest and you can win free beer for the whole year.
Cheap-ass drinks … for people who served you cheap-ass drinks on Halloween: Suite (1103 North Old World Third St., 414-270-9653) has a Halloween party planned for service industry workers on Monday Nov. 2. Look for an ad in this week’s Onion that will hook you up with Grey Goose and monster martini specials.
