Contest Win tickets to see Act Of Valor early and for free

Say what you will about Saving Private Ryan, but when it comes to military epics, it actually doesn’t get much realer than this. Act Of Valor, an “authentic action film” starring real-life, active Navy SEALs, won’t reach theaters nationwide until Feb. 24—but readers of The A.V. Club can win passes to a special advance screening on Thursday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m. at the Marcus Majestic.

With a plot woven from compelling true stories unearthed in interviews with real Navy SEALs, Act Of Valor follows Bandito Platoon, a core group of SEALs, as it is dispatched all over the globe (from Chechnya to the Philippines to Ukraine and Somalia) to dismantle an expansive terror plot that threatens the future of the United States.

Directors Mike “Mouse” McCoy and Scott Waugh sidestepped the Hollywood casting route when they realized their chief story consultants themselves were better equipped to play soldiers than any actors or stunt doubles. To win tickets to see the fruits of their unorthodox labor early and for free, head over to GoFobo and use the code “AVCLUBP38K” to enter.
