Continuing the trend of childlike characters in his films and a recent foray into an animated adaptation of a children’s novel, it seems inevitable that Wes Anderson’s newest film, Moonrise Kingdom, stars 12-year-old runaways in love and a cast of bumbling but endearing adult characters. The kids flee to the woods on June 15 in Milwaukee, but readers of The A.V. Club can see them one day early at AMC Mayfair Mall June 14.
Moonrise Kingdom features Anderson regulars Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman as part of a dizzying cast that also includes Edward Norton, Bruce Willis, Frances McDormand, Tilda Swinton, and Harvey Keitel as sheriffs, Boy Scout troop leaders, tree-chopping parents, and other characters from a world of pure imagination. Newcomers Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward play Sam and Suzy, the runaways.
