Now in its third year, WMSE’s annual Radio Summer Camp Music Festival is one of Milwaukee’s best musical parties—and in a town that boasts a different fest from now until October, that’s saying a lot. From July 27 through July 31, dozens of local and national acts will descend upon 10 different venues throughout Milwaukee, turning the entire city into a living, breathing, music machine. WMSE describes the fest as “the best five-day multi-venue music festival run by a 30-year-old community-powered radio station.” We simply call it one of the best.
Ted Leo And The Pharmacists kick things off July 27 with a show at Turner Hall, and will be joined by Tweak Bird and Call Me Lightning. The following night, Handsome Furs will play The Rave. The rest of the fest is just as stellar, and will include national acts like Richard Buckner, Daniel Martin Moore, Rafter, Blueprint, William Tyler, Dosh, Haley Bonar, A Lull, The Giving Tree Band, Carbon Leaf, and more. Local heroes throwing their hats in the Summer Camp ring include Jaill, Heidi Spencer And The Rare Birds, Juiceboxxx, The Pills, Wereworm, Vic & Gab, Group Of The Altos, Conrad Plymouth, and more. The fest concludes July 31 with the Backyard BBQ in Cathedral Square, which will feature even more music.
Four-day passes for Radio Summer Camp are on sale now, and will get you into every show, except the Ted Leo kick-off. Stay glued to The A.V. Club for more info and coverage of this one-of-a-kind local fest.
