All Time Low, We The Kings, Hey Monday, and The Friday Night Boys at The Rave/Eagles Ballroom
In the style of genre masters Fall Out Boy, Baltimore’s All Time Low pens clever titles—“Damned If I Do Ya (Damned If I Don’t)” and “Six Feet Under The Stars”—for not-so cleverly written songs tailor-made to pacify swooning teenage girls everywhere. Formed in 2003 when the band was still in high school, ATL’s sound is a cut and paste of forefathers Blink-182 and New Found Glory’s work, which uses major-chord guitar riffs and comfortable rhythms as a backdrop for lead singer Alex Gaskarth’s cute-meets-sarcastic vocals. Much like 2007’s So Wrong, It’s Right, this year’s Nothing Personal shows that All Time Low can to stay within the attention span of young adults everywhere—simply by cranking out pop-punk in its most predictable form.
