Burning Sons, In Defence, Assault And Battery, and Quitters at Club Anything
Most bands would consider coaxing legendary Southern California punk label Mystic Records out of retirement a career pinnacle—for Milwaukee’s Burning Sons, all it took was their first record. Since forming during the winter of 2010 as an interim side project for local hardcore luminaries (Speedfreaks, Cry Coyote, etc.), the band has been one of the city’s most active in terms of performance as well as recording. 2012 has seen the Sons pull off a quick West Coast tour, headline Mohawkfest, and put out their third record. Equal parts punk and metal make them appealing to a wide spectrum of music fans (outside the realm of pop, of course), and like the darkest of black comedy, their wicked sense of humor serves to enhance the seriously violent agenda of their lyrics. Live, they’re the furious barrage of guitars, drums, and gravelly shouting you’d expect, not safe for the naked ear. Tonight, Burning Sons celebrate the release of their new record, Reflective Confessions.
