Call Me Lightning, Coffin Pricks, and Bicentennial Rub at Quarters Rock 'N Roll Palace
Call Me Lightning has long been one of Milwaukee’s most popular indie-rock bands, packing clubs with its roaring mix of arena-rock stomp and punk-rock energy. The band’s 2010 album, When I Am Gone My Blood Will Be Free, is a typically hard-charging yet tuneful collection of songs—imagine if Tommy-era Who cut its teeth in Milwaukee’s Riverwest basement scene—and was easily the city’s best local record of that year. There’s been no word on new material from the band, though hearing When I Am Gone’s giddily epic rockers blasted live is unlikely to grow old any time soon. Chicago post-punk supergroup Coffin Pricks headline the show in advance of an upcoming album on Stationary (Heart) Records.
