Chris Smither and Caroline Herring at Shank Hall
Chris Smither is a passionate, philosophical singer-songwriter who has mastered an approach to Delta blues that never seems forced, illegitimate, or condescending. Coming out of the ’60s blues revival, Smither is perhaps best known for songs he wrote for other artists, most notably Bonnie Raitt, who covered his “Love You Like A Man” and “I Feel The Same.” He’s on the road behind the new Time Stands Still, which includes a down-and-dirty cover of Bob Dylan’s “It Takes A Lot To Laugh, It Takes A Train To Cry.”
