The Corin Tucker Band, Pussy Collector, and Holly And The Nice Lions at Cactus Club
Of Sleater-Kinney’s alumnae, singer-guitarist Corin Tucker has led the quietest life after the band’s 2006 breakup. She had a second child and focused on her family, but lifers like Tucker can never fully step away from music. After playing a pair of benefit shows in Portland, Oregon, Tucker decided to write an album. The result was 2010’s 1,000 Years, which dials back the overdriven fuzz of Sleater-Kinney’s swan song and stretches out musically. “Doubt” has a country swing, and “Thrift Store Coats” and “Miles Away” keep the volume down, though “Half A World Away” could be a Dig Me Out B-side. A new record, Kill My Blues, is due next week on Kill Rock Stars.
