Crimes at Riverwest Public House
Minnesota four-piece Crimes does something a bit tricky, taking garage-surf—a famously accessible style—and combining it with ambient, a less populist breed of pop. That formula results in a droning artiness, but one with enough sticky pop flare to go down easy; it’s the indie version of the ol’ spoonful of sugar trick. With the band’s delightfully disaffected male/female vocal interplay, Crimes has a growing fan base. Tonight the group is celebrating the vinyl release Good Hope, its strong debut LP.
