Buddy Holly’s 1958 studio sessions were thought to be his final recordings; that is, until decades later when his homemade “apartment tapes” were discovered. Arizona’s Digital Leather has the same lo-fi origins as the bedroom project of Shawn Foree, who’s been creating post-punk for synth lovers since the early ’00s. He may have graduated to working in a studio, but Digital Leather proves that the more technology advances, the more rock ’n’ roll stays the same. His newest, Warm Brother, came out in September on Fat Possum, and wisely doesn't screw around with his simple but effective recipe too much.
