Dionne Warwick at The Northern Lights Theater At Potawatomi Bingo Casino
Sure, that Psychic Friends Network gig was ill-advised, and she definitely shouldn’t have followed cousin Whitney Houston’s lead and brought her weed to the airport, but Dionne Warwick’s list of timeless songs has granted her legacy complete immunity. Classics like “Don’t Make Me Over,” “Walk On By,” and “Do You Know The Way To San Jose” were penned by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, and the trio was pretty much unstoppable during the ’60s. Unfortunately, Warwick’s output after that grew significantly less interesting, though not less popular: In 1974 she scored her first No. 1 single with “Then Came You,” and then repeated the feat in 1985 with the lighter-lifting-ballad-to-end-all-lighter-lifting-ballads “That’s What Friends Are For.” Expect hit after hit after hit here.
